CLO102 – Business Development and Marketing strategies for Commercial Loan Originator

The second part of the course concentrates on business development strategy of a successful commercial loan originator. Mistake made by unsuccessful loan originators is that they treat business as a succession of sporadic transactions, rather then a consistent and predictable business system. In order for any business to survive and strive as a long-term concern, the business owner must understand all aspects of strategic business planning. SSpending little time or no time at all on marketing and business planning of your enterprise while concentrating too much on the technical side of origination is a sure thing to make you an rate-sheet reader with no loan pipeline. We will cover:

  • Business Planning
  • Sources of business
  • Lending niches
  • Effective marketing plan
  • Client need analysis and consultation process
  • Negotiating strategies
  • Strategic alliance building
  • Time Management and organizational issues
  • Building a team
  • Technology issues
  • Auxiliary business building
  • and many other subjects that will help you establish a striving business

CLO201 – Advanced Commercial Loan Origination strategies

The third part of the course takes you into the types of deals where most of the unprepared originators give up and loose most of their income. The course deals with advanced topics of structured commercial finance transactions. We will cover such topics as

  • Mezzanine lending,
  • Equity vs. debt financing,
  • Private vs. Institutional Financing
  • Joint ventures,
  • Participating debt,
  • Equity shifting,
  • Exchange transactions,
  • Commercial development and construction projects,
  • Private money lending,
  • Project syndications,
  • and many other subjects that you will not find in a commercial lending text book. This class will include participation by several industry experts involved in advanced transaction structuring.
